Inclusive Community

The Office of Residence Life creates an environment that fosters a sense of belonging. This is accomplished through our staff building individual relationships with residents, helping residents to communicate effectively with roommates, and providing opportunities for support. We provide programs that are directed at enhancing students’ ability to connect with others, explore their personal identities, and develop a deeper understanding of their impact within our community and the world.

Living & Learning Experiences

The Office of Residence Life utilizes a Residential Curriculum as an intentional way of promoting learning and development for resident students. The Residence Life program at St. Francis College implements a multitude of strategies to advance learning and development within our residence halls. These strategies are directly related to the institutions Mission & Vision, as well as our department’s own educational priorities.

The Office of Residence Life and its property management company, FOUND Study, maintain a high standard to ensure SFC students are provided with a luxury student housing experience, right here in New York City. What to Bring - What Not to Bring List

How does Residence Life manage Safety & Security?

A security desk is located at the front entry in the lobby. This security desk is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Residents are required to swipe their Residence Hall ID in order to enter the building, as well as show it to security. Residence Life professionals and student staff also serve 24 hours a day, 7 days a week duty rotation. Resident Assistants also conduct rounds of the building daily. The building and suites are equipped with state-of-the-art life protection systems including fire sprinklers and smoke detectors.

Do I have to pay for laundry?

Yes, laundry costs $2.25 per load per machine. Residents download the MyMagicPass app to pay for laundry machines located in the building. Students and family members can easily load funds onto the MyMagicPass app using a debit or credit card. The building has six laundry rooms available to residents.

Can I request a roommate?

Yes, students can request a roommate when they complete the Housing Application. If two or more students want to live together they should ensure that they all name each other on their individual applications. This will ensure Residence Life knows that it is a mutual selection.

If you don’t already have a roommate picked out, don’t stress! The Housing Application asks students a number of questions regarding their preferences to ensure that students are matched with the best possible roommate.

Am I guaranteed to receive my housing preferences?

Residence Life does its best to accommodate student's housing preferences, however, we assign students based on the inventory we have at the time of placement. Continuing residential students are placed first, then students are placed in order of when their housing deposit is received, and when all other housing requirements are met. For example, a freshman student who pays a housing deposit early, but does not register for classes on time will be placed after someone who has met all of the requirements.

What if I have more questions?

We’re happy to help! We encourage all students to attend a Residence Life Info Session. If you still have questions, contact the Office of Residence Life at [email protected] or call us at 718-489-2041.
