Giving Tuesday Campaign Aims to Raise $150,000 for Fund for St. Francis

Save the Date Giving Tuesday

As part of a global movement of generosity, St. Francis College is inviting its community to do one thing on December 3rd: show their support.

The College is taking part in Giving Tuesday, a daylong event that encourages people everywhere to do good through charitable acts.

On Giving Tuesday, St. Francis College alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends are asked to donate to SFC's Fund for St. Francis – the College's annual fundraising campaign -- and to spread the word for others to do the same. This year's initiative, the College's 5th year participating, is supported by an anonymous matching-dollar commitment up to $50,000.

Last year's earnings totaled over $150,000.

"Living through the actions of being a Franciscan, for it is in giving that we receive; it is my honorable duty to play an active role and give back to the next generation of students who walk through the doors of St. Francis College", said David Loutfi '13. "Everything the College has done for me, I would like to pay forward for future Terriers to help grow and succeed.

SFC students are taking the lead on the day's fundraising in several ways. Student teams are competing to meet their own fundraising goals. Giving Tuesday Student Ambassadors will wear special gear on campus and will earn the opportunity to win prizes based on what they raise. Other student volunteers will take part in a day-long phonathon in St. Francis College's Callahan Center, which is serving as the College's Giving Tuesday headquarters.

Kristen Anderson, SFC's new Director of Engagement and Annual Giving will be on site helping lead the way.

"We are very excited to welcome Kristen to our team," said Thomas Flood, Vice President for Advancement. "She brings a new energy and fresh creativity to the office. We are looking forward to working with Kristen; she will hit the ground running with Giving Tuesday on December 3rd.

"Donor support is vital to St. Francis College. A large percentage of our operating expenses come through meaningful gifts from individuals," said Anderson. "All money we raise on Giving Tuesday helps bridge the gap between tuition dollars and the expenses required to run the College each year."

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
