SFC Student Spotlight
“My two majors allow me to exercise both sides of my brain, as the IT major deals mostly with logic, while Communication arts has the creative half. An extraordinary quality about the college is that the faculty and students that I had the good fortune to meet and be friends with are very friendly and informative. Everyone gives me the feeling like I fit right in and that I am part of the team and as far as I’m concerned it’s been like a home away from home.”
Travis Hentrich Communication Arts (Advertising and Public Relations), Information Technology Class of 2014
Founders Hall is the largest auditorium on campus seating about 300 people. Newly renovated sound, video and lighting systems make Founders Hall the perfect spot for special events like the Thomas J. Volpe Lecture Series which features speakers including Russell Simmons, Pete Hamill and Salman Rushdie. Founders Hall also hosts plays by the student theater group, The Troupers, and the acclaimed Concerts at Half Past Twelve series, which has showcased a wide variety of musical genres, including Broadway performers, top classical musicians and singers of all types.
Founders Hall is also used to regularly host dozens of community events, movies for senior citizens, events sponsored by elected officials and New York City Department of Education training workshops.
