Travel to the “Big Island” of Hawaii and the tallest
mountain in the world, Mauna Kea. Mauna Kea is home to one of the
world’s largest collection of astronomical telescopes. Astronomical
explorers from all over the earth come to Mauna Kea to explore the
universe. Against the backdrop of Hawaiian legend and lore, the show
introduces you to several of today’s cutting edge astronomers, their
instruments, and recent discoveries relating to the expanding
universe, comets, and planets around other stars. Two “live” show
segments demonstrate new telescope technology and the importance of
location for astronomical research.
