Introduction to Blackboard
This session designed for faculty assumes no prior knowledge of Blackboard, but requires basic computing skills. Experience with word processing, e-mail, and familiarity with the World Wide Web is expected. Two hour interactive workshop which provides an overview of Blackboard, its capabilities, different ways that the courseware is used at USF, and how it is supported on campus. (part I of II)
The Nuts and Bolts of Using Blackboard
This is a two hour hands-on workshop for faculty. Assumes completion of Introduction to Blackboard. Focus is customizing a template to support a class with a Blackboard course site. Faculty are strongly encouraged to select one course for the current or upcoming semester for Blackboard support. Faculty should bring a disk or flashdrive with course files to the workshop to add to their new Blackboard course site. Topics include adding/removing announcements, entering faculty information, creating folders to organize a course, uploading and managing Word and PowerPoint files in Blackboard, creating external links, using the course calendar and developing a grade book on Blackboard. Blackboard 7.2
This hour and a half long session reviews the new tools and features available with the upgraded 7.2 version of Blackboard. A closer look will be given to the Discussion Board where significant changes have been made as well as focusing on the gradebook and the updated Visual Text Box Editor. Faculty will also be introduced to the notion of LDAP authentication and what it means for them and their students as well as the new processes now in place due to a recent systems integration between Jenzabar and Blackboard.
Blackboard "Creating Web-Based Classes:Translating Content to an Online Environment"
This is a completely hands-on, interactive workshop for faculty interested in creating a course site for a web-based course. Assumes completion of Introduction to Blackboard and/or The Nuts and Bolts of Using Blackboard. The workshop will focus on creating and customizing a Blackboard course site using not only Blackboard resources and online tools, but also extensive multi-media such as podcasts, audio/video, YouTube, making use of Mac's Keynote to create interesting and stimulating presentations for your students. This course is designed to bring your classroom teaching into the world of on-line educational technology. Requirements: Innovation, excitement and imagination. Faculty and instructors will need to have in mind an actual class for the upcoming semester for which they wish to create a site. The workshop will start with a two hour instructional design classroom session and will continue as one-on-one meetings between the Instructional Designer and Faculty until the course creation is complete.
Training Bites
These are short training sessions designed to provide reminders of useful Blackboard tools in easy, chewable bites. Instructors should already have a course in mind and a basic understanding of Blackboard and how it works.

"It's Blackboard Dahling" - A 30 minute session that looks at the Design elements of a Blackboard course site. You'll learn how to change colors and fascia and add images to create a unique and personalized site.

"Sundance...Here I Come" - An hour long session that shows you how to improve your current PowerPoint presentations and how to set up a multimedia presentation using PowerPoint Producer or Mac's Keynote '08.

"Put your pens down and pass your papers to the front" - A 45 minute session that looks at creating and developing on-line tests and exams using the Test Manager tool. You will learn how to deploy your tests and control the testing environment using pre-set parameters. The Assignment feature will also be reviewed.

"A Virtual World" - A 40 minute session that looks at the Virtual Classroom and Chat Room collaboration tools as well as Building Blocks such as Pronto.

"The Face of the Future" - A 40 minute session introducing you to Podcasting, YouTube and implementing Audio and/or Video into your course site.

"Ten out of Ten" - A 45 minute session on Blackboard's Gradebook. This session will look at the correlation between on-line testing and the Gradebook as well as reviewing the Gradebook settings and parameters.
Blackboard Exclusive
A customised Blackboard session designed to meet department needs, approximately one hour. This session introduces the non-Blackboard user to features such as logging in to Blackboard, the Blackboard interface and how Blackboard interacts with the university's other network systems, plus any other areas that may be of importance to a specific department. Please contact the Blackboard Systems Administrator for further details on arranging a Blackboard Exclusive session for your department.
