Making the Transition to First Year College

Future students applying to first-year associate or bachelor’s programs can apply at any time of the year, with no formal deadline in effect. Admission to the nursing program is the only exception and further information is provided below.

Admissions Requirements

Accepted Qualifications

  • Applicants seeking entry to an associate or bachelor’s program must present a high school diploma and an official transcript from an approved secondary school.
  • Students who do not possess a high school diploma must present a recognized High School Equivalency Diploma transcript of their NY State (or other) General Education test scores and a copy of their certificate.

Academic Entry Requirements

  • Students who have achieved a high school GPA of 71 or above will be fully admitted to the institution (with the exception of the nursing program).
  • Students who have a GPA between 65 and 70 may participate in our conditional admittance program on a case-by-case basis.

Please note that all accepted first year students are required to take a skills assessment administered online, prior to class placement.

Nursing Admissions Requirements

The Nursing program at SFC is competitive, and due to New York State regulations, a limited numbers of seats are available in our program. The below requirements apply to new St. Francis College applicants only.

Please note that the deadline to commit for the Fall 2022 incoming class was May 1, 2023.

Freshmen Fall 2022 Admission Requirements:

  • Cumulative high school GPA of 85 (3.0) or higher
  • 80 + in all math and science courses
  • Submit official scores for one of the following tests:
    • SAT: 1050 or higher (super score)
      Note: International freshman applicants are required to submit SAT Scores regardless of GPA and following International Guidelines
    • ACT: 21 or higher
  • Applicants with a cumulative GPA of 90 or higher can receive a waiver on the test score requirements
