St. Francis College Celebrates 2025 Commencement at Historic King’s Theatre

Brooklyn, NY — May 16, 2025 — St. Francis College (SFC) proudly celebrated the achievements of approximately 1000 graduates during its 2025 Commencement Exercises held on Friday, May 16, at the iconic King’s Theatre in Brooklyn. The day featured two separate ceremonies honoring the College’s undergraduate and graduate candidates.
The morning ceremony recognized over 300 students receiving associate’s, bachelor’s, and dual degrees. St. Francis College President Tim Cecere welcomed graduates, their families, faculty, staff, and special guests with words of encouragement and pride.
Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Kings County District Attorney Eric Gonzalez; City Council Member and SFC alumna Rita Joseph, ‘04 (District 40); and Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, all showing their support for the newest class of Terriers.
The ceremony also featured a valedictory address by Riad Itani, a candidate for a Bachelor of Science in Biology, who inspired fellow graduates with his reflections on perseverance and hope.
Alumnus Jean Desravines, ‘94, CEO of New Leaders, delivered the keynote address. Recognized for his impactful leadership in education equity, Mr. Desravines was also awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from his alma mater.
The evening ceremony honored over 700 students earning master’s and post-baccalaureate degrees. Arkell Cox, SFC Board Member, CEO of Diamond-Girl Productions, and IHOP franchise developer, served as keynote speaker. She offered an empowering message about leadership, resilience, and the importance of giving back.
Both ceremonies were filled with joy, pride, and celebration as the SFC community gathered to honor the Class of 2025’s academic accomplishments and bright futures.
