Message From the
Board of Trustees

The St. Francis College Board of Trustees appointed Tim Cecere as Interim President, effective June 23, 2023.

Dear SFC Community,

Today, Dr. Miguel Martinez-Saenz announced that he has resigned from St. Francis College effective July 1, 2023, and will begin employment as Senior Vice President for Student Engagement at Sacred Heart University on August 1, 2023.

Dr. Martinez-Saenz, the 19th President in the College’s 164-year history, joined St. Francis College in September 2017 and guided it through a critical period of transition and growth as well as the challenges of the COVID-19 environment and the relocation of the College’s primary campus. We are grateful for Dr. Martinez-Saenz's years of service and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

Timothy Cecere, who has served as Acting President since March 2023, will continue as Interim President of St. Francis College until such time as the Board of Trustees appoints the College’s next president. Timothy's dedication to the College cannot be overstated and we're grateful for his leadership. The intention of the Board of Trustees is to conduct a search for the College’s 20th president and establish a Presidential Search Committee, and we will share additional information about that process with the St. Francis College community as it becomes available.

Please join me in thanking Dr. Martinez-Saenz and Timothy Cecere for their service to the College and its mission. Their dedication and hard work make a significant impact on our institution, and we are grateful for their contributions.

Sincerely,

Denis J. Salamone
