Opportunity Programs

Helping You Achieve Your Success

Our mission is in the title! The Office of Opportunity Programs advocates and provides students with meaningful opportunities. Students in our signature programs are often awarded scholarships, receive targeted academic support, gain guidance on applying to internships or research experiences, have access to exclusive opportunities, and so much more.

Your Access to Unlimited Opportunities

How we can help

McGuire Scholars

A majority of the McGuire Scholars who are first-generation college students receive a tuition-based scholarship, a book voucher, a support system, and the opportunity to engage with the SFC and the local community. Eligible new students are encouraged to apply during the admissions process (limited spots available).

CSTEP

Funded by the New York State Department of Education since 2020, Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) provides additional support services, financial assistance, and internship/research opportunities to a cohort of ~170 students. Eligible new & continuing students are encouraged to apply (limited spots available).

SRC

The STEM Resource Center (SRC) provides academic support, professional development and career readiness initiatives to students pursuing STEM fields. With a focus on students who identify as Hispanic/Latinx or from low-income households, students are encouraged to check their SFC email or view the SRC website for upcoming opportunities.

Accessibility & Accommodations

The Office of Accessibility and Accommodations (OAA) provides reasonable and appropriate accommodations to students with documented disabilities — ensuring equal access to programs, activities and opportunities.
