Franciscan Month: Nou Akoma Nou Sinèrji Haitian-Dominican Transnational Film Festival

October 9, 2024 - October 12, 2024
All Day Event
St. Francis College
Auditorium (5th Floor)

In the Franciscan spirit of inclusion, understanding and compassionate hospitality, St. Francis College is pleased to partner with the Dominicans Love Haitians Movement during Franciscan Month and serve as the host site of the second annual Nou Akoma Nou Sinèrji ("We Heart We Synergy") Haitian-Dominican Transnational Film Festival.

The festival promotes solidarity and awareness between the Haitian and Dominican communities, both at home and within the diaspora. In line with the festival’s inaugural 2023 programming, art and films authentically reflecting the diverse experiences, rich histories and singular narratives of emerging and accomplished film-industry professionals of Haitian, Dominican and African descent will be showcased.

Highlighting cultural diversity through various artistic mediums, including dramatic, documentary, experimental and short films; podcasts; visual-art exhibitions; and panel discussions, the festival aspires to be one not just of artistic expression and enrichment but of dialogue and action. This year’s festival features films from a cohort of cinematic visionaries, including:

  • Mountains
  • Parsley
  • Boca Chica
  • Sugar Cane Malice
  • The Forgotten Occupation
  • Bitter Cane
