9/11 Museum President & CEO Alice Greenwald to Deliver St. Francis College's Yom HaShoah Lecture on April 24th

Alice M. Greenwald, President & CEO of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, will deliver St. Francis College's annual YomHaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) lecture on April 24th.

A veteran museum professional, Greenwald worked with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum for nineteen years, starting as a member of the founding "Design Team" in 1986 and later as the Associate Museum Director, Museum Programs.

Greenwald began her service with the 9/11 Memorial Museum in 2006. She held various senior positions while overseeing the museum's creation and its opening in 2011. She has been in her current role since 2016.

"Alice's experiences with both the Holocaust and the 9/11 Memorial Museum makes her acutely aware of the value of documenting and shining a light on the horrors people have inflicted on one another," said Father Brian Jordan, former chaplain at St. Francis College. "I'm looking forward to hearing her perspective on why sustaining the memory of these events brings out the best in us all."

St. Francis College, an independent, private college with a rich Franciscan heritage, honors YomHaShoah each year with a guest speaker who provides students and community members a unique perspective on the Holocaust.

Israel established YomHaShoah as a national day of remembrance in 1953 and it is now commemorated by Jewish communities and individuals worldwide. The Jewish calendar dictates the exact date, but it is usually in April or early May. This year's YomHaShoah begins at sundown on Wednesday, May 1st and ends at sundown on May 2nd.

Alice Greenwald's Yom HaShoah lecture is free and open to the public.
