John F. Tully Named New St. Francis Board Chairman
Brooklyn Born Lawyer Graduated From College in 1967
The St. Francis College Board of Trustees has selected John F. Tully '67, a Brooklyn native and St. Francis College graduate as the College's next Board of Trustees Chairman. The move will take place July 1, the same day the current Chairman, Brendan J. Dugan '68, becomes the new President of St. Francis, replacing Frank J. Macchiarola '62.
"John's passion for the students, faculty and entire St. Francis College community has been evident since he first joined our board in 2005," said Brother Leonard Conway, O.S.F. '71, vice chairman of the St. Francis Board of Trustees. "We are fortunate to have someone with his experience to take the mantle of Chairman. We look forward to having our new leadership in place and continuing the strong momentum of the College developed under President Macchiarola and Mr. Dugan."
John is currently Of Counsel to the International Law Firm of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. Before that he worked 27 years for the Exxon Corporation, including assignments in New Jersey, Louisiana and Texas. He retired from ExxonMobil in 2004 as the Assistant General Counsel in charge of Litigation and returned home to New York.
John attended law school at The University of Notre Dame and the University of London and obtained a Juris Doctor Degree from Notre Dame in 1970. Mr. Tully then spent seven years in the public sector as an Assistant District Attorney in the Homicide Bureau of the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, a trial attorney in the New York Regional Office of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission and an Assistant Attorney General in the Organized Crime Task Force of the New York State Attorney General's Office.
John resides in New York City with his wife Maureen. They have two children, Amy and John. John currently attends St. Francis College.
