St. Francis College Mourns the Passing of Richard Berleth

A Note From the Berleth Family:

Dr. Richard Berleth's family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of sympathy and affection from the St. Francis community. As you all know, teaching was his passion, and he treasured every day he spent with his students and colleagues at St. Francis.


It is with much sadness that St. Francis College announces the passing of Communication Arts Professor Richard Berleth.

Dr. Richard Berleth worked widely in print media companies, advertising, and marketing. He held positions in marketing management for Time Inc., McGraw-Hill, Simon & Schuster, Dun & Bradstreet and directed his own small advertising firm with a specialty in direct response selling. He also wrote the best-selling childrens book, Samuels Choice, and a best-selling adult popular history, The Twilight Lords. He also wrote the highly acclaimed history book, The Bloody Mohawk: War and Survival 1718 - 1794. Dr. Berleth came to St. Francis College in 1986 and taught until 2012. He helped design the advertising and public relations track of the Communication Arts department and served as Chair of the Department for many years.
