St. Francis Named One of Best Comprehensive Colleges

Third Straight Year Recognized by U.S. News & World Report

For the third straight year St. Francis College has been named one of the top comprehensive colleges in the north by U.S. News & World Report.

"It is always a source of pride when the hard work of our students, faculty, administrators and alumni are recognized," said St. Francis College President Frank Macchiarola. "The Small College of Big Dreams is more than just a logo. It's a reality for our students."

With a new Masters Degree offering in Accounting, Professional Studies Programs for adult learners and full use of the new $20 million Academic Center which features a state-of-the-art High-Definition TV studio, three-floor library, 'smart' classrooms and 90 seat theater, students at St. Francis have more opportunities to succeed than ever before.

"The quality of a St. Francis education continues to improve," said Dr. Macchiarola. "This latest ranking is a validation of what we've been saying for years, all at a fraction of the cost to attend many other private colleges."

St. Francis College prides itself on making a quality education accessible to everyone. Many students are the first in their family to attend college. A full academic scholarship is offered to any High School student with a 90 average plus an 1150 on their SATs. Numerous other scholarship and awards are also available.

The commitment to students doesn't stop once students are accepted. Students who finish at the top of their class each year are offered an academic scholarship for the remainder of their undergraduate studies.

"We want to reward students for doing well," continued Dr. Macchiarola. "And we want to make sure that money is not the difference between a great student finishing their college career and being forced to leave college to enter the workforce."

St. Francis College, founded in 1859 by the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn, is located in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. Since its founding, the College has pursued its Franciscan mission to provide an affordable, high-quality education to students from New York City's five boroughs and beyond.
