The Center for Service-Learning (CFSL), through our community partner, coordinates all phases of the recruitment, enrollment, orientation, and monitoring of SFC students engaged in service-learning. Faculty shape service experiences to facilitate the achievement of instructional and psychosocial goals.

Service-learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, engage in civic responsibility and strengthen communities.
Students benefit by gaining "real world" exposure to potential career areas as they progress through their training.
Supervised events are held in all five boroughs, seven days per week at various times thoroughout the day. Clear connections between course content and service are drawn in advance - far from "busy work", tasks are designed to make a real difference in someone's life.

Service-learning is a “hands-on” instructional method that reinforces, illustrates and enlivens your college experience by providing opportunities to practice what you're learning in the "real" world.
