Are you a Masterpiece?

When we hear the word masterpiece, what comes to mind are the great painters, sculptors, and authors all through the ages but never the LORD. He is the CREATOR of all the above.

In Ephesians 2:10, The LORD says,” For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in CHRIST; we can do the good things HE planned for us long ago.”

Our father, St. Francis, has left us a simple guideline: Scripture. When we delve into the word, we are reading, but our hearts should be open to receiving all the Holy Spirit has for us. Jesus is the WORD made flesh. He describes each of us as a Masterpiece. Each of us has a set of fingerprints no other person has, gifts, and personalities that no other has. Each of us is a Masterpiece, one of a kind, to accomplish something only you can do for the glory of the Father.

We should be walking, talking, and presenting ourselves confidently with the mindset that there is only one of me. Not in a prideful way or arrogance but truly believing I am a Masterpiece – GOD’S Masterpiece, created in His Image and Likeness.

How does this happen? Begin with reading the Holy Scriptures daily. After a while, the reading will become a prayer. The prayer will transform how we think and respond to life—going from gospel to life and life to gospel. Francis did not only read the word; the word became flesh, and he lived the word. It would be amazing to pause and allow the Holy Spirit through scripture to give us the wisdom to speak, truly love, forgive, and live in freedom. If we allow the Holy Spirit to work within and through us, we will become the Masterpiece we were created to be.

Jesus is the potter, and we are clay. Jeremiah 18, If we would just allow the LORD to form, to touch us, to spritz us with water, an occasional pinch, and to connect with our inner child who trusts, we would not mind being spun around and around and enjoy being indeed formed by the Master Sculptor – our CREATOR, our FATHER.

I am Blessed, Prosperous, Redeemed, Forgiven, Healthy, Whole, Talented, Creative, Confident, Secure, Disciplined, Focused, Prepared, Qualified, Motivated, Valuable, Free, Determined, Equipped, Anointed, Accepted and Approved. Not average, not mediocre; I am a child of the Most High God. I will become all I was created to be, in Jesus' Name.

In closing, I invite you to join me on the Potter’s Wheel to become the Masterpiece you were created to be, a ONE and ONLY!

Love, Peace, and Joy,
Anna Marie Versacio, OFS
Formation Director for Tau Cross Region
