"Ephemera, Legacy in Images" Book Release and Celebration of Student Work
A visual and poetic exploration of life of life in New York City through the lens of 35-millimeter photos and Polaroids
On December 6, St. Francis College student Sophia M. Faustino '24 will release Ephemera, a four-year journey through transformative experiences in New York City. Inspired by pop-culture icons such as Andy Warhol, the Ink Spots, Nat King Cole, the Who and David Bowie, Ephemera is a reflection on the fleeting nature of life and analog photography and transcends boundaries.
In Ephemera, the author intertwines poetry and photography to craft a unique narrative of self-discovery, metamorphosis and legacy. The book not only presents a personal journey but also shares the voices of St. Francis College alumni and members of Terrier TV. It features multicultural perspectives that explore Romani roots and the experience of growing up in a family influenced by Umbanda. Written in both Portuguese and English, the work reflects on identity, tradition and the concept of belonging in a world that is constantly changing.
Ephemera invites readers to embrace the beauty of impermanence and the ability of art to capture the transient. The work is more than a book; it is a conversation with the past, present and future, challenging readers to reflect on their own journey of life, change and rebirth.
Available on Amazon in both hardcover and eBook starting December 6.
