10th Year Forbes Selects SFC for America's Top Colleges List

Every year Forbes offers prospective college students and their parents a way to find the best colleges for their money, and every year St. Francis College is offered as one of the choices. With the release of the 2017 rankings, St. Francis has now been ranked one of America's Top Colleges all 10 years that Forbes has published the list.

Forbes puts a large focus "on the direct benefits a college or university provides its students. Favoring output over input." The website argues that return on investment, measured by graduation rate, student debt, and post-graduate success, is more important than acceptance rate and SAT scores.

In describing why St. Francis made the list, Forbes writes that, "Academia is celebrated at St. Francis – an impressive 20% of students pursue postgraduate education... and the five-year Master's track for Accounting regularly sends graduates to the Big Four."

The listing goes on to praise the college for its diversity, entrepreneurship program, and tradition of volunteering by students.

"We take a lot of pride when the hard work of our professors, administrators, and of course, our students, is recognized for a ranking like America's Top Colleges," said Interim President Timothy J. Houlihan. "Whether it's personal attention from professors, or amazing networking supported by our alumni, the entire St. Francis community is driven to turn out well-rounded members of society and committed to giving them access to opportunities where they can succeed."

This year, St. Francis College is proud to offer a new Master's Degree in General Psychology as well as a new low-residency MFA in Creative Writing. The semester begins with Terrier Tuesday on September 5, a block party where all new students can learn about clubs and activities as well as mix with their classmates for the next four years.

Classes begin September 6, and there is still time to apply.

St. Francis College, founded in 1859 by the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn, is located in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. Since its founding, the College has pursued its Franciscan mission to provide an affordable, high-quality education to students from New York City's five boroughs and beyond.
