ALBANY – The Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities has named eight college presidents to join its Board of Trustees. CICU's 26-member board is comprised primarily of presidents of member institutions as well as representatives of CICU's sister organization, the Council of Governing Boards, which represents university trustees.

The new members of CICU's Board of Trustees are:

• Drew Bogner, President of Molloy College
• Shirley Collado, President of Ithaca College
• Henry "Hank" Foley, President of NYIT
• Marvin Krislov, President of Pace University
• Miguel Martinez-Saenz, President of St. Francis College
• David Munson, President of Rochester Institute of Technology
• Carolyn J. Stefanco, President of The College of Saint Rose
• Kent Syverud, Chancellor of Syracuse University

Stefanco and existing CICU board member Shirley Mullen, President of Houghton College, both also serve on the board of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU).

CICU has represented the public policy interests of New York's 100-plus private, not-for-profit colleges and universities for more than 60 years. CICU advocates on their behalf with state and federal officials for student aid funding and other programs that help students achieve their college dreams.

These newest members of CICU's Board of Trustees bring with them a wealth of experience and a diversity of backgrounds that will help our organization continue its mission as an effective advocate for New York's private colleges and the superior educational opportunities they offer," said Joseph M. McShane, S.J., president of Fordham University and chair of CICU's Board of Trustees.

With the guidance and leadership of our board, CICU advocates for public policy that promotes affordable and accessible higher education and student choice. We also work collectively to highlight the important role independent higher education plays in our state's economy by generating $88.8 billion in economic activity, supporting jobs statewide, and ensuring the state has the well-educated workforce it needs to be globally competitive. Each of these college or university leaders who have joined our board brings a unique perspective to this important work and we are grateful for their service," said Mary Beth Labate, CICU President.

The eight new members of CICU's Board of Trustees were elected during a February meeting and participated in their first meeting as members of the Board of Trustees on May 2, 2019.
