Jazz pianist and vocalist Rosalyn McClore, along with her trio, will pay tribute to black women in jazz on February 15, 2019 from 3 – 4:30 p.m. in Founders Hall at St. Francis College, in celebration of Black History Month.

A Tribute to Black Women in Jazz serves as a chronological tribute to blues and jazz from the 1920's to the 1960's to present day featuring a selection of works by some America's greatest jazz female artists, such Billie Holiday, Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, and Nina Simone all in one afternoon.

"This will be a beautiful experience that will bring people together for a beautiful moment in time, where we can just become one nucleus along with the artists, music, and people from every creed," said Anthony Williams, SFC English Lecturer.

The afternoon will start with a short introduction on the history of these great women followed with a musical concert by the McClore Trio.

The McClore trio - Memphis-born McClore on the piano and vocals, Emilo Valdez on drums, and Micheal Smith on bass – has appeared on stages in the New York area and around the world and is hailed as a great talent in the form of jazz piano and vocals.

Light h'orderves and refreshments will be served to guests after the performance.
