mySFC Mobile App Wins Industry Award for Recruiting and Admissions

2021 Appademy Awards Winner

St. Francis College won the 2021 Appademy Award for best mobile app for college recruiting and admissions, a tribute to the success of mySFC Mobile at engaging and serving prospective and incoming students.

The app-building platform Modo Labs – which powers SFC's app – started the Appademy Awards four years ago to recognize achievement in apps created by higher education institutions. This year, the company hosted a June 23 virtual event where it named winners in 11 categories from among 84 total nominees.

St. Francis College launched mySFC Mobile in 2017 and revamped it significantly in 2020, including by introducing more "personas," a way of tailoring the app's interface to a user's relationship to the College.

In addition to its original two personas – prospective and current students – the app now allows users to identify themselves as alumni, admitted students, committed students, employees and guests, with each persona selected triggering a different app experience.

Prospective, admitted and committed students can perform several tasks to ease their transitions into the SFC student body, including paying deposits, finding and registering for special events, and learning about SFC's costs and other aspects of College life.

Students can submit admission applications in the app, and a checklist there ensures they complete all necessary steps needed for admittance.

SFC also received Appademy Award nominations this year in the Health & Wellness (for the Back to Brooklyn screen) and Best Overall Design categories. It bested University of Rhode Island, Santa Monica College, Santa Clara University and University of California, San Francisco to win Recruiting and Admissions.
