Many young children don't like to read.

It's a challenge that all new teachers must face when they get their own classroom.

At St. Francis College, tomorrow's teachers studying Childhood Education learn a new way to overcome that hurdle. Each student writes and publishes their own children's book.

Then they all come together for a Publishing Party each year to share their work.

This personal touch of learning by doing gives them a deeper connection to reading, and the tools to help a child get closer to books.
