Loren Harris, MD, Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center came to St. Francis College for a Respiratory Health Symposium on November 12, 2014.

Harris talked about the importance of early detection of lung cancer, saying that the only way to treat patients is through surgery, and the only time surgery is effective is when the cancer is caught early.

Maimionides is part of a new program that uses low dose CT scans to detect lung cancer.
