Fall Reopening: A Message From President Martinez-Saenz

I can't tell you how excited I am by the possibility of seeing many of you back at 180 Remsen Street for the start of our 2020-2021 academic year on September 9th.

The SFC Committee for Reopening is methodically and thoughtfully working out the details of a phased return-to-campus plan we're calling Back To Brooklyn.

We aim to have our Back To Brooklyn plan complete by July 30th. Prior to then, we'll unveil a new Back To Brooklyn web page that will include key decisions made to date, some of which – such as about fall 2020 course instruction - we've already communicated in messages that you can read in the "Latest Updates" section of our COVID-19 information web page.

As I've mentioned before, Back To Brooklyn is informed by two core principles:

  • Optimizing our community's well-being by mitigating COVID-19 transmission.
  • Delivering a stellar Franciscan education aimed at student success and achievement.

Our plans adhere to all guidance set forth by New York State, and other health and education authorities.

We all have a role to play in keeping our community as healthy as possible. Before you come to campus again, we will ask you to take a Terrier Pledge, a personal commitment to yourself and fellow Terriers to act responsibly, in accordance with the new rules in place. We will share details of Terrier Pledge as our Back To Brooklyn plan is finalized.

In the meantime, please continue to enjoy summer and you will hear from us again soon.
