Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Celebrating and supporting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders has never been more important for our community, given the recent increase in acts of ignorance, hatred, and violence that they have endured.

The incredible diversity of countries, cultures, and beliefs that is represented by this expansive group would take many lifetimes to understand and fully benefit from. SFC's growing international programs and the ever-increasing diversity of students continue to reflect Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders centrality in our Terrier family.

Every opportunity to learn about people who have different experiences in the world should be cherished. We are a community dedicated to learning, service, justice, prosperity and peace. Our Asian American student organization, the AZN Society, is an important part of our student life and I encourage all students to participate and support it.

Join me in celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by taking the time to learn about the accomplishments, contributions, culture and most importantly, the people that are part of our mosaic. Please see this PBS listing of programming that celebrates Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

In peace and friendship,

President Martinez-Saenz
