Department Mission:
To reflect the modern demands of the accounting profession, the mission of the Accounting and Business Law Department at St. Francis College has evolved to integrate emerging technologies and data-driven decision-making into its core curriculum.
Modern Curriculum Focus
In addition to traditional principles, today's students engage with:
• AI and Emerging Technology: The program emphasizes the integration of AI tools for accounting and business procedures, moving beyond simple software use to high-level tech proficiency.
• Data Analytics Expertise: Students use relevant computer software to transform raw data into strategic insights. The college specifically offers a Data Analytics and Excel certificate through a partnership with Becker.
• CPA Evolution Readiness: Coursework is aligned with the new CPA Evolution model, which requires deeper knowledge in specific "disciplines" like Information Systems and Controls (ISC) or Business Analysis and Reporting (BAR).
Strategic Professional Growth
• Business Intelligence: New course highlights include Advanced Accounting Information Systems and Accounting Information Technology & Design, focusing on how technology secures and optimizes financial data.
• Ethical Leadership: The mission reinforces that while tech is vital, the "human" element—honesty, integrity, and professional respect—remains the foundation for leadership in a digital world.
• Real-World Application: Through the SFC Forward strategic plan, the department has strengthened internship pathways to ensure students are prepared for the 21st-century global economy.
Transfer Student Integration
• Seamless Transition: Transfer students can directly enter these tech-forward tracks, with articulation agreements ensuring that their prior credits align with these modern degree requirements.
• Flexible Learning: To accommodate non-traditional students, SFC has expanded remote and hybrid learning options, preparing all students for the flexible workplace environments of today.

“St. Francis College's rigorous curriculum and dedicated faculty have provided me with the knowledge and skills needed to understand the intricacies of business operations from the inside out.”
“Being part of a small school helped me build connections and understand the importance of knowing people and how that would translate into business opportunities.”
“The first accounting course solidified my decision. I saw how demanding the major was. Professor [Louis] D'Elia did a great job at explaining the basics and keeping students motivated.”
“I definitely think I made the right choice to go to St. Francis. Everything kind of fell into place.”
“SFC is equal to any of the bigger schools, if not better. I think the advantage of a smaller school is you get a more personal experience.”
