Michelle Powell is a retired Senior U.S. Probation Officer with the Eastern District of New York, United States Probation Department. As a U.S. Probation Officer within the Pre-Sentence and Post-Conviction Divisions, she prepared sentencing recommendations, investigated crimes, and monitored caseloads of offenders by implementing correctional treatment and sanctions. Professor Powell also served as the District's First Offender Workforce Development Specialist and implemented AIM HIRE, the Offender Workforce Development Program. AIM HIRE provides re-entry services, as well as one-on-one case management services in the areas of employment, vocational training, and education for unemployed offenders.

As a former adjunct professor and current lecturer at SFC, Professor Powell teaches courses about probation, parole, correctional institutions, the court system, and criminal justice. She brings her extensive law enforcement background and teaching experience into the "in-person" and online classroom with a focus on inspiring students with their careers and promoting intellectual growth.
