Message From the President to Graduates: Commencement Re-Scheduled

To St. Francis College graduating class -

Thank you for your patience and grace over these past few weeks, as we all adjust to new ways of learning amidst this global coronavirus pandemic.

Many of you have asked us about plans for this spring's Commencement. I know you and your families are eager to make your plans. We've evaluated all possible options to ensure you have the celebration you richly deserve. Commencement is a treasured St. Francis College tradition and it is critical to us that the Class of 2020 not miss out on that experience.

To that end, we have decided to re-schedule our Spring 2020 Commencement. The ceremony has been postponed and the new date is Thursday, August 27th. We will hold it at the Ford Amphitheater on the Coney Island Boardwalk as originally planned. You'll be able to walk the stage in your cap and gown to accept your degree, just as you would have in May.

We are working out details – including the timeline for the day and other activities – and we will share those as soon as they are confirmed.

The decision to re-schedule Commencement was difficult but necessary to help protect the health and well-being of all our graduates and guests. We are extraordinarily proud of each of you. Celebrating with you in August will be a highlight of my year, as I hope it will be for you and your families. I look forward to being with you then.

Please keep an eye out for further updates. If you have questions in the meantime, please review the Commencement FAQ or email our Special Events team at [email protected].

Best of luck for the remainder of your spring semester.

In Peace & Friendship,
Miguel Martinez-Saenz
