St. Francis Announces New Avp for Enrollment

Joseph Cummings Brings 22 Years of Higher Education Service to New Position

St. Francis College is proud to announce the promotion of Joseph Cummings as the College’s new Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management Services where he will oversee the areas of Admissions and Student Financial Services.

“In my new role, I look forward to working more closely with faculty and fellow administrators to strengthen our new student enrollment initiatives,” said Assistant Vice President Cummings. “We’re also going to continue to strengthen our commitment to enhancing services for our current students to improve retention and support the academic goals and mission of the College.”

Cummings, who has 22 years of experience working in higher education, had been the Director of Student Financial Services at St. Francis since 2004, and previously held leadership positions at both Marymount Manhattan College and Pace University. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Pace University and a Master’s degree in Enrollment Management from Capella University.

While working in the Bursar’s Office for Pace, Cummings helped to develop the integrated Student Accounts and Registrar Services model, providing one-stop service for students. He helped to replicate this model at Marymount Manhattan setting up one, all-encompassing student service area that included Academic Advisement, Registrar, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts.

“Joseph’s ability to streamline the processes for our current and incoming St. Francis students helps them put aside the paperwork and lets them focus on being a college student,” said St. Francis President Brendan J. Dugan ’68. “We are fortunate to have someone with his vision take on such an important role at the College.”

Cummings’ first major event in his new position will be the Spring Open House for the College on Sunday, February 27 at 10:00am.

St. Francis College, founded in 1859 by the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn, is located in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. Since its founding, the College has pursued its Franciscan mission to provide an affordable, high-quality education to students from New York City’s five boroughs and beyond.
