Alfonso Lopez '06
Alfonso Lopez is a proud son of Queens and Brooklyn, and an outspoken believer in the immeasurable capacity of New Yorkers.
He is a 2006 alumni of St Francis College and the final graduate of the former Aviation Department. He also served as SGA President and a member of Duns Scotus in his Senior year.
After St Francis, Alfonso was accepted into the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s prestigious Public Policy Fellowship Program. He served as a fellow in the office of Congressman John Salazar of Colorado’s 3rd district. The Congressman added Alfonso to his personal staff for the next 5 years where he lead efforts on the Veteran’s Affairs Committee.
After the hill, Alfonso received an appointment from the Obama White House to the Department of Homeland Security covering Science, Technology and Public Health Policy.
Alfonso then joined Mayor Bill DeBlasio‘s administration in the New York City Office of Federal Affairs in Washington DC, working on various issues - principally Homeland Security, Immigration and Public Safety.
In the administration of Mayor Eric Adams, Alfonso shifted to the role of Chief of Staff for the City Legislative Affairs team focusing on Environmental Policy.
