The correlation between 9/11 and the 2011 Arab Spring and the idea of Amoral Moralism were the topics of a two part lecture by St. Francis College Professors Yassin El-Ayouty and Gerald J. Galgan marking the tenth anniversary of the attacks in the College's Maroney Forum for Arts, Culture & Education on September 19.

Columbia Professor & New York Times Magazine Writer Jonathan Dee Wins $50,000 St. Francis College Literary Prize for His Novel the Privileges
A celebration of the privileged rang out at the opening night gala of the 2011 Brooklyn Book Festival as Jonathan Dee, author of The Privileges (Random House), was announced as the second winner of the $50,000 St. Francis College Literary Award at the Brooklyn Book Festival 2011 Gala Mingle and Awards Ceremony held at The Green Building on September 17.

James Madison: Power Broker, Father of the Constitution
St. Francis College Constitution Law Professor Frank Sorrentino marked the 224th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution at St. Francis College on Thursday, September 15 with a Constitution Day talk devoted to the man often referred to as the Father of the Constitution, James Madison.

u.s. News Ranks St. Francis a Top Regional College in the North
U.S. News & World Report has again selected St. Francis College for its list of Best Regional Colleges in the North, moving the College six slots higher than on the previous list. St. Francis was also ranked the 4th Most Diverse Regional College in the North.

New Semester Brings New Students, New Courses, Classrooms & Web Address
Terrier Tuesday marks the start of the 2011-2012 school year at St. Francis College. All incoming freshman are required to attend the day-long event which gives them an up close look at all the club, Greek and athletic opportunities St. Francis has to offer. Students also participate in games, team building and ice breaking exercises to jump start their participation in the social community of the College.

Professor Michele Hirsch Named New Assistant Academic Dean
St. Francis College announces the promotion of Psychology Professor Michele Hirsch to Assistant Academic Dean for the start of the Fall 2011 semester. Dr. Hirsch will be working closing with faculty at the College, specifically with Department Chairs in areas like department assessment and reviewing the College's core curriculum. Among her other duties will be overseeing the experiential learning program, portfolio reviews, working on retention issues and coordinating adjunct professors.

An emphasis behind the creation of new opportunities for students, faculty and administrators stands as a core reason for three new promotions at St. Francis College this summer. Dr. Allen Burdowski is now the new Dean of Academic Program Development, Richie Coladarci now serves as Assistant Vice President for Human Resources and Organizational Development and John Ragno is the College's new Assistant Vice President for Finance.

When St. Francis College sophomore and Staten Island resident Krystelle Khoury was crowned Miss Lebanon Emigrant USA 2011 in May, she earned the winner's tiara, and a big responsibility, to represent the Lebanese community in the United States.
