As a testament to the contributions of women to its history and to building its future, St. Francis College (SFC) will honor three distinguished women professionals at the 58th Annual Charter Award Dinner, the institution's signature annual fundraising event on April 3rd.

Renowned American playwright Dominique Morisseau, recipient of a 2018 MacArthur Foundation "Genius Grant," will take part in a live Q&A discussion at St. Francis College on Wednesday, March 27th.

JCPenney will provide 40 percent off all purchases during the event. The in-store Sephora there will also offer mini makeovers. Attendees can stop by at any time on March 29th between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Moderated by St. Francis senior Janelly Aybar, a biology major who was a Research Assistant for NYP/ Weil Cornell Medical Center HeartSmarts program and a scholar at the Rutgers Summer Health Professions Education Program, the panel discussion is co-sponsored by SFC's Women's Leadership Network and the Biology Department. It commemorates 50 years of co-education at the college.

Concerts at Half Past Twelve returns for the second performance of the spring series, with members of the acclaimed Repast Baroque Ensemble performing music from the Golden Age of Dresden, a period in the early and mid-eighteenth century during which composers in the German city created some of the most timeless Baroque music.

Leading academics, mental-health clinicians, advocates will take part in Coming to America in the 21st Century, a day-long conference on March 29th that will shed light on often-overlooked daily challenges immigrants face, and reveal treatments and programs that improve their mental health and well-being. A March 25th conversation between the curator, artists and St. Francis faculty will close Environmental Empathies, an interactive art exhibit that explores the connection between empathy and action around climate change.The multi-media exhibit, which opened February 6th in St. Francis' Callahan Center Art Gallery, features film, photography, and other artistic works from ten New York City-based artists. It brings to life the current and anticipated effects of climate change on people, plants and wildlife, and invites visitor participation in an effort to help counteract individual apathy and hopelessness, prompt dialogue and to enrich the artistic creations displayed.

Art in the Lab, a groundbreaking initiative created by SFC Assistant Professor of Biology Dr. Alison Dell and Dr. Irina Ellison of Mercy College, will be held on February 20th in the biology labs at SFC.

St. Francis College's Concerts at Half-Past Twelve series returns for the Spring 2019 Season with Ensemble Luini, featuring renaissance music from Josquin Desperz to John Dowland, on February 11th from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Founders Hall.For 19 years, Concerts at Half Past Twelve has featured an amazing variety of internationally known musicians and dancers performing dozens of shows; from brass ensembles to organ music, bluegrass to Broadway tunes.
