Mirror Mirror on the wall..., Inaugural Exhibit of Works From the Lise Curry Art Collection, Opens at St. Francis College on September 19th

St. Francis College will debut curated works from the Lise Curry Art Collection in Mirror Mirror on the Wall, an exhibition of contemporary portraiture, figure drawing and sculpture by established and emerging artists that opens on September 19th.Acquired over thirty years, New York City private collector Curry recently bequeathed more than 220 works to the College that reflect, in many cases, deeply personal, global perspectives on humanity and culture.

St. Francis College Announces Finalists for the Biennial $50,000 SFC Literary Prize

St.Francis College announced finalists for its 2019 SFC Literary Prize, a $50,000 biennial award for an author's third to fifth work of published fiction. They are: Jennifer Clement (Gun Love), Tsitsi Dangarembga (This Mournable Body); Brandon Hobson (Where the Dead Sit Talking); Samantha Hunt (The Dark Dark); David Joy (The Line That Held Us); Danzy Senna (New People). The winner will be revealed on September 21st.

Area Students Take Part in Ecamp, St. Francis College's Weeklong Bootcamp for Budding Entrepreneurs

Fifteen area high school and college students tested their business mettle at St. Francis College's second annual eCamp, a five-day bootcamp from August 5th to 9th that exposes budding entrepreneurs to the nuts and bolts of starting businesses and culminates with participants pitching their business ideas to SFC faculty and guests who vote on their favorites.

3rd Annual Brendan J. Dugan Memorial Meadow Brook Golf Outing Brings in $400,000

St. Francis College alumni and friends hit the links on July 29th for the annual Brendan J. Dugan '68 Memorial Meadow Brook Club Golf Outing, a flagship fundraising event that brought in nearly $400,000 to support the College's mission of providing students an affordable, superior liberal arts education.

In the Spotlight: Helen &Quot;skip" Skipper, Incoming Post-Prison Program Student

Incoming first-year student Helen "Skip" Skipper is a Peer Supervisor with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and is enrolling in St. Francis thanks to the Post-Prison Program, an initiative launched in 2014 by Dr. Emily Horowitz, Professor, Sociology & Criminal Justice, to help formerly incarcerated women and men earn their college degrees.

St. Francis College Science Students Monitor Local Water Quality

Working in collaboration with Dr. Victoria Ruiz, Assistant Professor of Biology and Health Promotion, a team of six undergraduates and one recent grad signed on for a 20-week project to monitor the quality of local waterways. St. Francis College is one of eleven partner labs in the New York City Water Trail Association's annual Citizens Water Quality Testing (CWQT) Program.

In the Spotlight: Justine Lombardi, Head Coach, Women's Soccer

August 22nd is a significant milestone in the history of St. Francis College: that's the date of the season opener for the College's inaugural Women's Soccer Team. Coach Justine Lombardi, who joined St. Francis last September and has largely been responsible for assembling the first-year roster, shares her reflections on the past ten months preparing to hit the field this fall.

In the Spotlight: Deedee Fields '19, &Quot;terriers Come Home" Graduate

When Deedee Fields first enrolled in St. Francis College in 2001, she didn't know she was embarking on what would be an eighteen year journey to the graduation stage. As part of the new "Terriers Come Home" initiative, Deedee earned her degree in July 2019, having left St. Francis more than a decade ago to build her career in the NYPD.
