At St. Francis College, tomorrow's teachers studying Childhood Education learn a new way to overcome the hurdle of resistant readers by publishing their own children's book.

Parts of Brooklyn were once laid waste by federal forces in an ongoing battle that is seldom discussed, the Whiskey Wars of the 1870's.

The story of this escalating tax fight between Brooklyn and the government will be told by author Sarah Lohman in the first lecture of the Spring 2018 Senior Citizen Lecture Series, "From New Nation to World Power: Culture, Politics, and Society in the United States, 1789-1896."

The Class of 2018 is honored at Winter Commencement.

Beginning January 17 and running through January 27, the College community will participate in a series of events to celebrate the inauguration of President Martinez-Saenz.

When Kejsi Shkreta '18 first came to New York from Albania, she left behind a country that was enjoying a new openness to the world and its first taste of democracy. Her parents worked hard to give her the opportunity to attend high school in the United States and she took full advantage.Now as Valedictorian for the Class of 2018 Winter Commencement, Kejsi (pronounced KAY'-cee) will share her story and words of encouragement with her fellow graduates on Tuesday, January 16 at St. Charles Borromeo Church.

The evolution of art in human beings is the topic of a new book by St. Francis College English Professor Gregory F. Tague. Art and Adaptability: Consciousness and Cognitive Culture (Brill│Rodopi) is the third book in a trilogy that discusses the arts and humanities in light of evolution.

What began with a walk to bridge the tuition gap, continued on Giving Tuesday with a full day of appreciation for St. Francis College benefactors, and a major e-campaign and phone-a-thon. One week later, St. Francis College is proud to announce that the Giving Tuesday campaign raised more than $150,000 dollars from more than 500 donors, a new high water mark for a day meant to refocus the holiday season on helping others.
