							St. Francis Athletic Director Named to Prestigious List of Women in Sports
				The Women's Sports Foundation (WSF), in collaboration with espnW and Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT), today released its 40 FOR 40 list of forty women, including St. Francis College Director of Athletics, Irma Garcia, who made a significant impact on society after playing sports in high school or college during the forty years of the Title IX era. The honorees will be recognized as part of a 40 FOR 40 event on June 21 at the JW Marriott in Washington, DC. The supporting sponsor of the event is Scripps Networks Interactive.

							Annual Student Recognition Award Honors Five Young Women
				Out of more than 2,700 students at St. Francis College, a group of four professors singled out five young women to honor their academic excellence with an annual Student Recognition Award. The honorees cross disciplines, including a Biology major, an English major and three Education majors.

							St. Francis College Launches Institute for Peace & Justice
				St. Francis College, with Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens proudly launched the new St. Francis College Institute for Peace & Justice with the panel discussion, "Moving Beyond the 'Culture Wars': How Catholic Social Teaching also Can Enlighten Current Partisan Debate on Basic Questions of Poverty, War, and Social Justice" on May 1 at the College.

							2012 Commencement Marks Largest Graduating Class in History
				St. Francis College celebrated its largest graduating class ever on Tuesday, May 15 when more than 450 students received their diplomas in a ceremony at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's (BAM) Howard Gilman Opera House.

							St. Francis Professor Publishes Second Novel
				When Andrew Cotto is not dispensing advice and ideas on writing and literature as an English professor at St. Francis College, he is writing his own tales that cross a diversity of themes and genres.His second novel, Outerborough Blues: A Brooklyn Mystery (Ig) is a noir thriller that takes place before the borough has undergone recent gentrification.

							Assisi Journal Unveils New Double-Sized Issue With More Than 120 Works
				With contributions that reflect faith, love, grief and joy, the new issue of Assisi; An Online Journal of Arts & Letters could not be contained to the size of just one issue. Instead, Editor Wendy Galgan, an English Professor at St. Francis College made the new publication, Volume 2, Issues 2/3 - Fall 2011/Spring 2012, a double-sized collection of work.

							Yom Hashoah Event: The Three Heroes of Assisi in World War II
				Father André Cirino, OFM, Franciscan author and pilgrimage guide, spoke about the seldom discussed heroics of three men from the city of Assisi – one who helped save the city from destruction and the other two saving the lives of between 250 and 300 Jews from the Holocaust - for the 15th Annual Yom Hashoah Holocaust Remembrance Day event on April 28 at St. Francis College.

				More than 250 members of the St. Francis College community filled the College's Founders Hall April 27 as the College proudly honored the new members of the Duns Scotus Honor Society, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Real Estate Developer and Philanthropist John Loconsolo at the College's 128th Charter Day.

							51st Annual Charter Award Raises More Than Half Million Dollars
				St. Francis College presented one of its most successful alumni, Barbara G. 							Delaney Speech Contest Winners Take Home $1,000 in Prize Money
				With a four minute speech on Social Media and the Arabs, St. Francis junior Claudia Oddo '13 took home first place and $500 in the Annual Delaney Speech Contest on April 24 at St. Francis.
