SFC Professors Pen Two New Books for Summer Reading

The scholarly research of two St. Francis professors can now be found in two new books that go on sale this summer. Fine Arts Professor Jennifer Wingate's book, Sculpting Doughboys: Memory, Gender, and Taste in America's World War I Memorials (Ashgate), examines the unique position memorials of WWI soldiers hold in the social, cultural and artistic history of the United States. Sociology and Criminal Justice Professor Nickie Phillips wrote Comic Book Crime: Truth, Justice, and the American Way (NYUPress), a look at how comic books reflect and provoke feelings on crime and punishment in modern day society.

St. Francis Teams Up With Nyse Euronext to Help Teachers

NYSE Euronext will host its 26th annual NYSE Teachers Workshop beginning Monday, June 24, 2013. The annual program, in conjunction with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) Office of Investor Education and Advocacy, helps approximately 200 teachers from across the United States educate students on the financial marketplace and its importance in their lives and the global economy.Teachers who successfully complete the NYSE Teachers Workshops can acquire post-baccalaureate academic credit from St. Francis College, in Brooklyn Heights, New York.

Study Finds Career Prep Key for First-Generation Student Graduation Rates

A new study co-authored by St. Francis College Sociology Professor Emily Horowitz shows that black and Latino students who attend private Catholic colleges in the New York City area are much more satisfied with their college experience than those who attend comparable CUNY schools.

Education Alumni Reunite

More than 75 graduates from the Education Department came to St. Francis College, May 30, as part of an effort to help build a stronger network of alumni which will benefit past, present and future students. The graduates and professors came together with the goals of developing school partnerships, creating a graduate honor society chapter, and building a job bank.

With more than 170 submissions from mid-career authors, the jury for the $50,000 St. Francis College Literary Prize will certainly have a busy summer. The short list for the prize will be announced August 15 with the winner to be announced at the opening gala for the Brooklyn Book Festival on September 22.

With tuition under $20,000 and the estimated starting salary for graduates at more than $45,000, St. Francis College has been ranked by The College Database as the best private college in New York State for financial return on investment and in the top five overall.

More Than 400 to Line Up for Spring Commencement

St. Francis College is proud to announce that more than 400 students will again graduate at Spring Commencement, keeping up the record setting growth from a year ago. Joining this class at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on Tuesday, May 14 will be two-time Super Bowl Champion, New York Giants and Founder of Tuck's R.U.S.H. for Literacy, Justin Tuck, who will deliver the Keynote Address.
