Student Government Holds Annual Awards Dinner
The Student Government Association (SGA) honored students, administrators, faculty and staff for the work they do everyday to enhance the St. Francis College community, hosting the Annual Student Awards Gala at the Waterfront Crab House, in Long Island City, on May 2. The SGA is proud to celebrate the hard work of these people and thanks them for their contributions to the College.

Charter Day Celebration Leads to Completion of Four Brothers Scholarships
During the annual Charter Day celebration for St. Francis College Friday, April 25, outgoing President Frank J. Macchiarola '62 announced that portions of the recent $1 million gift from John '51 and Mary McCarthy will be used to complete and fully endow scholarships named for four Franciscan Brothers. A fifth scholarship will also be replenished. The McCarthy's were at the ceremony to accept the St. Clare Medal of Service.

With just two victories this coming weekend at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships, the St. Francis College Women's Water Polo team can extend their already most successful season ever with a trip to the NCAA Division I Women's Water Polo Championship.

Everyday, the campus of St. Francis College reflects the amazing diversity of the city it calls home. To celebrate the coming together of people from dozens of countries and countless cultures, the College hosted its annual multicultural interchange, Community Day, April 13, where members of the college community shared aspects of their cultures with and among each other.

Saddam Hussein Trial Judge: Responsibility Trumps Fear
Iraqi Judge Raid Juhi Al-Saedi says his role in presiding over the investigation of former Iraqi Dictator Saddam Hussein for war crimes was more important than concerns for his own life. "We need to teach our society how to respect the rule of law in Iraq," Juhi told a packed theater Thursday, April 10 in a talk sponsored by the St. Francis College Department of International Culture Studies.

Two Million Thank You$ for Frank Macchiarola
Roger Hertog, Vice Chairman Emeritus of AllianceBernstein, L.P. and Chairman Emeritus of the Manhattan Institute, was so moved by the testimonials about St. Francis College's retiring President Frank J. Macchiarola '62, that Hertog committed $1 million to the College in honor of Macchiarola's life's work before the 47th Annual Charter Award Dinner was even over.
