A celebration of the privileged rang out at the opening night gala of the 2011 Brooklyn Book Festival as Jonathan Dee, author of The Privileges (Random House), was announced as the second winner of the $50,000 St. Francis College Literary Award at the Brooklyn Book Festival 2011 Gala Mingle and Awards Ceremony held at The Green Building on September 17.

SFC Professor Curates Exhibition on World Music Innovators
Continuing the story that began in her 2009 film, The Hand of Fatima, St. Francis College Professor Augusta Palmer has now curated the exhibition, Jajouka: The Master Musicians of Morocco, at the Arab American National Museum in Michigan, running through November 2.

A Championship Tribute at Arthur Curry Scholarship Reception
Legendary boxing champion Roy Jones, Jr. led several hundred St. Francis College students and friends of Arthur Curry in singing Happy Birthday on February 18 in the St. Francis Genovesi Center on what would have been Curry's 50th birthday. Jones, Jr., HBO Sports Commentator Jim Lampley, Curry's mother Lise and others from the boxing community all came to St. Francis for the formal announcement that the Arthur Curry Scholarship Program has been established.

Everyday, the campus of St. Francis College reflects the amazing diversity of the city it calls home. To celebrate the coming together of people from dozens of countries and countless cultures, the College hosted its annual multicultural interchange, Community Day, April 13, where members of the college community shared aspects of their cultures with and among each other.
