Islamic taboos, the struggle for control of Islam and a hard look and modern Islamic thinkers were just some of the topics covered in the panel discussion, Independent Voices of the Middle East, co-hosted by St. Francis College and the Manhattan Institute on Thursday, April 15 in St. Francis' Founders Hall.

Professor Sophie Berman, Chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies began her introduction for St. Francis College's Annual Yom HaShoah Observance on April 12 by stressing that it was our duty as a Franciscan institution to be a part of events that take place around the world, saying,

St. Francis College proudly hosted the Fourth Biennial Meeting of the Society for Eighteenth-Century Music from April 8 – 11, with events throughout the College and across New York City. The conference, which was dedicated to the memory of the scholar H. C. Robbins Landon, attracted fifty-one registrants arrived from New Zealand, Austria, Canada, and across the United States for classical performances and presentations of cutting-edge research on topics ranging from reports on newly discovered manuscripts to fresh information on composers' lives, to revised interpretation of their works.

Human trafficking is alive and well right here in the United States, even in the New York metropolitan area Director Kat Rohrer told a crowd of students as she screened portions of her documentary Fatal Promises at an event hosted by the St. Francis College Women's Studies Center on Monday, March 29.

St. Francis College alumnae and Executive Director of the Child Abuse Prevention Program (CAPP) Marion D. White '78 was honored with the Alumni Hall of Distinction Award for her contributions to New York State's economy by the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU) on Monday, March 1 at the New York State Capital in Albany.
