St. Francis Ranks on Top Colleges Lists
St. Francis College has been recognized as one of the top Baccalaureate Colleges in the North for 2009 by U.S.News & World Report in its annual survey of the nation's colleges. The magazine also listed St. Francis as the fifth most diverse Baccalaureate College in the North. These rankings come a few days after Forbes.com included St. Francis in its new America's Best Colleges list, placing SFC in the Top 5 in New York City.

Brendan J. Dugan Takes Over at St. Francis: Frank J. Macchiarola Assumes Familiar Title of Chancellor
As former Chairman and CEO of Metro New York / New Jersey Division of Sovereign Bancorp, Brendan J. Dugan '68 takes over as the 18th President of St. Francis College on July 1, his predecessor; Frank J. Macchiarola '62 is assuming a title that is familiar to him and to many around New York City, Chancellor.

$100,000+ Raised at Meadow Brook Golf Outing
More than 160 alumni/ae and friends of St. Francis College birdied their way to more than $100,000 for student scholarships on June 23 at the Annual Meadow Brook Golf Outing.

Arthur Miller's Sister Talks About the End of His Life, His Son and Marilyn Monroe
Arthur Miller's sister, actress Joan Copeland keeps nothing back in her interview published in the new issue of The Arthur Miller Journal (Vol. 3, no 1). Copeland, speaking to Journal Editor Stephen Marino, covers a wide range of subjects including growing up in Brooklyn with her family during the Great Depression, her long career, acting in her brother's plays and the influence of Paula and Lee Strasberg on Marilyn Monroe during the filming of The Misfits.

Academic Center Named for Frank and Mary Macchiarola
In a surprise proclamation at the St. Francis College 2008 commencement, a tearful Frank Macchiarola and his wife Mary were visibly moved by the news of having the College's Academic Center named in their honor in appreciation of their commitment and support for St. Francis students, faculty, administration and the entire Franciscan community.

John F. Tully Named New St. Francis Board Chairman
The St. Francis College Board of Trustees has selected John F. Tully '67, a Brooklyn native and St. Francis College graduate as the College's next Board of Trustees Chairman. The move will take place July 1, the same day the current Chairman, Brendan J. Dugan '68, becomes the new President of St. Francis, replacing Frank J. Macchiarola '62.

St. Francis Students Excel in Multiple Areas
St. Francis College Psychology students Danielle Petrosino, Victoria Gallarello, Sandyrose Rolon, Avalene Persad, Antonia Arsenlis and Stephanie Meja were awarded the Florence Denmark Award for Outstanding Poster at the annual Pace University Undergraduate Psychology Conference on May 10th. The students presented their research entitled: "Evaluation of Personal Web Pages with High and Low Levels of Disclosure."

Student Government Holds Annual Awards Dinner
The Student Government Association (SGA) honored students, administrators, faculty and staff for the work they do everyday to enhance the St. Francis College community, hosting the Annual Student Awards Gala at the Waterfront Crab House, in Long Island City, on May 2. The SGA is proud to celebrate the hard work of these people and thanks them for their contributions to the College.

Charter Day Celebration Leads to Completion of Four Brothers Scholarships
During the annual Charter Day celebration for St. Francis College Friday, April 25, outgoing President Frank J. Macchiarola '62 announced that portions of the recent $1 million gift from John '51 and Mary McCarthy will be used to complete and fully endow scholarships named for four Franciscan Brothers. A fifth scholarship will also be replenished. The McCarthy's were at the ceremony to accept the St. Clare Medal of Service.

Yom Hashoah Rememberance Lecture
St. Francis College hosted its annual Yom Hashoah remembrance event, May 1, with a lecture by noted professor Kitty Millet who spoke about, "The Obligation of Hope."
